Burgan Recognizes Agents with Awards

Coming off the company’s best 1st quarter performance in over 41 years of being the larget, independently owned and operated real estate agency in the Mahoning Valley, Burgan Real Estate held a special awards banquet for their agents and spouses/significant others recognizing members of the Burgan Bunch for their own accomplishments.  Held at Upstairs Lounge in Austintown, this evening of fun and comradery saw several agents receive awards for their outstanding performance in helping make 2017 one of the best years in Burgan’s history.

“Having a record setting year certainly makes celebrating a lot easier, but when you have such a fantastic group of agents, like our current Burgan Bunch at Burgan Real Estate, it’s always fun getting together to recognize the top performers, as well as experience the comradery the entire staff has with one another,” said Patrick Burgan, Broker and Co-Owner of Burgan Real Estate.  “The record setting year in 2017 and early successes in 2018 are made possible by the agents who not only trust us to help them grow in their careers, but are excited to be part of a company that embraces a culture that cares about making them better people who can contribute to making our community a better place to live, work and play.”

Among the Burgan Bunch agents recognized during the evening, were Tibitha Matheney who won the award for most houses/dollars sold by volume with 128 homes and over $13 million in total revenue.  Joan Zarlenga was recognized as having the highest sale price for the year, coming in at $753,000 and Valerie Park was Burgan Real Estate’s Mentor of the Year. Rookie of the Year honors went to Scott Heffelfinger and Lisa Goclano, though their futures look even brighter as members of the Burgan Bunch.

Julie Mills, the winner of the Rising Star Award, was excited about winning this coveted award but the hard work that earned her this award was what really impressed Sue Filipovich, Broker and Co-Owner of Burgan Real Estate.  “Julie has demonstrated true dedication to her career as a REALTOR®, from taking her out of town clients to their new school, to preparing her clients with the details they need for a stress free transaction and to ultimately treating them like family.   The reflection of Julie’s top notch service to her client, her hard work and integrity is well recognized with the Rising Star Award.”

This year’s ceremony introduced a new award to the mix.  The John Burgan Spirit Award was created to both honor the legacy of one of Burgan Real Estate’s founding fathers, as well as to recognize the commitment, drive and dedication a Burgan Bunch agent brings to the office and his clients every day.  This year’s inaugural winner was James Marzo, who was honored to receive this recognition.

“It was huge honor and great surprise to have been chosen as the first ever winner of the John Burgan Spirit Award,” said Marzo.  “John has been someone who I have looked up to and wanted to emulate since I started at Burgan.   To be recognized for my commitment to the company and making things better for our team members and clients is just another reason why I love being a part of this great family.”

In addition to the individual awards, a select group of agents were given the prestigious title of being a Superior Agent at Burgan Real Estate.  These agents are part of a panel that helps in advising co-owners, Patrick and Sue, on their initiatives while providing valuable feedback on the performance, direction and interests of the company from a team member’s point of view.  These agents include Karen Ament, Kathy Battisti, Tibitha Matheney, Valerie Park, Steve Rogers, Rich Suhovecky and Joan Zarlenga.

Currently, Burgan Real Estate it the third largest real estate agency by volume acording in Mahoning County, based on industry reports from CRIS MLS NEOHREX reports for period ending March 31, 2018.  With over 40 agents and three offices in the Valley, Burgan is poised for continued growth and are looking forward to an even better 2018.
